One week left!

Some people may see the name of my website and socials and wonder, "what does KaLynnBa mean?" That is the question we will answer today!

KaLynnBa is a combination of my nickname, Lynn, and the word "Kalimba," which is the name of the first instrument I ever learned how to play.

A kalimba, also known as a "thumb piano," is a handheld instrument originating from Africa. Each metal tine sits at a different length and plays a different note. It is held with both hands and played with the nails of your thumbs.

I own two Kalimbas! One blue wooden one, and a clear acrylic one. Every Kalimba's sound is a little different depending on the key it is tuned in, the material it is made with, etc.

My wooden one, for example, makes a loud, resonant chime sound. The sound echos through the hollow wooden frame and is very bold.

On the other hand, my acrylic one is much quieter and makes a cute, twinkling chime sound.

Kalimbas, in my opinion, are the most beautiful sounding instrument. I've found myself getting lost in the sounds as I learn a new song, and end up losing track of time. They are therapeutic and delightful to listen to.

As a lover of these sweet little instruments, I hope I can implement them into my music and help share their beauty with the world. Please look forward to hearing me play these beautiful kalimbas on my youtube channel in the near future!

That's all for now. Have a great day!
